How to edit a contract PDF before it is signed

Fix a wrong date, name or figure in the PDF itself, before anyone signs. After a signature, a corrected contract is a new document to sign again.

What you need

  • A PDF under 5 MiB (25 MiB on Pro), up to 100 pages
  • A desktop browser (upload and download only on a phone)
  • Text you can select — not a scan
  • A free account, with a confirmed email, to download

The usual corrections

  • A name or address — see fix a typo. Check the signature block too.
  • A date or a term — see change a date or number.
  • An amount in words and in figures: change both; nothing links them.
  • A word in a clause, such as shall for may.

Before or after it is signed

  • Before anyone signs: correct the draft and send it as the version to sign.
  • After a signature: an edited copy is a new document. A digital signature is invalidated, and a drawn one stays on words that changed, so have it signed again.

Send it back and sign

  1. Tell the other side what changed, or mark it with highlight and comment; remove the marks in a clean copy.
  2. Sign the PDF in the same editor. It is a drawn signature, not a certificate-based one.
