How it works

    A line, a number, a date: drop the file above and it opens in the editor.

    Choose Text and start typing

    A text box appears in the middle of your view, ready to type. Drag the box to move it; set the font, size, colour and alignment beside it.

    Read it back, then download

    Check the new text reads as part of the page, then sign in for free and download the result.

What adding text does

  • New text, on top of the page

    It is written into the PDF you download as real text, where you put it — searchable and selectable like the rest of the page.

  • Your choice of font, size and colour

    Pick from the editor’s bundled fonts, chosen to sit well beside common document typefaces, with bold, italic and alignment.

  • Change it as often as you like

    Added text stays editable: move it, retype it or delete it, and undo any step.

  • Want to change words that are already there?

    That is a different job — retyping a date, a figure or a name in place, in the document’s own font where the file allows. Edit PDF text.

Common questions

Before you start

Can I fill in a PDF form with this?

You can type on top of a printed form’s blank lines. Fillable form fields are different: their values live in the form, not on the page, and this editor does not fill them.

Will the new text match the document’s font?

New text uses the font you pick from the bundled set, not the document’s own font. To change words already in the PDF in their own font, edit them in place instead.

Can I add text to a scanned PDF?

Yes, as a new text box on top of the scan. The scan’s own text cannot be changed, because we don’t read text out of scans (OCR).

Do I need an account?

Not to add text: upload and type straight away. Downloading the result needs a free account.
