Acceptable use policy

What you may not do with this service.

Version 2026-09-29 · Effective 29 September 2026

Do not use this service to

  • Edit documents you have no right to edit.
  • Forge or alter identity documents, official records, qualifications, financial statements or any document intended to deceive.
  • Infringe copyright or other intellectual property rights.
  • Commit fraud, run a phishing campaign or distribute malware.
  • Publish someone else's private information without their consent.
  • Create multiple accounts to get around free-plan limits.
  • Attack the service — scanning, scraping, denial of service, or deliberately consuming abnormal resources.
  • Automate the interface in a way that degrades it for other people.

A note on redaction

Editing removes the text you change where it can, and draws over it where it cannot — so the old words may still be in the file. Even when they are removed, only that one edit is touched: copies elsewhere on the page, in the document’s metadata, in an attachment or in an earlier revision are untouched. Deleting an image or a graphic that was already in the PDF takes it off the page, but its data stays in the file. Using this service to hide confidential information will give you a false sense of security. Use a purpose-built redaction tool instead.

How we enforce this

We may suspend an account that breaks this policy. Where we can, we tell you what happened and give you a chance to respond. For a serious or illegal use we may act immediately.

If we got it wrong

Automated abuse detection makes mistakes. If your account was restricted and you think that was wrong, email [email protected] and a person will review it.
