How it works

Three steps, in your browser

    Upload the PDF and have the image ready

    Drop the PDF above; keep the logo, stamp or photo on your computer as a PNG or JPEG.

  2. 2

    Choose Image and pick a file

    Choose Image in the tool rail and select a PNG or JPEG. It lands on the page, ready to drag into place and resize by its corners.

  3. 3

    Check the placement and download

    Zoom in to see the image sits clear of the text, then sign in for free and download the new file.

What you can do with images

  • PNG or JPEG

    Smaller than 5 MiB and at most 2 million pixels each — plenty for a logo, a stamp or a photo at page size. A PNG keeps its transparency.

  • Up to 20 per document

    Place as many as a document needs within that, on any page, and move, resize or delete each one afterwards.

  • Move the images already there

    Images and graphics that came with the PDF can be moved, resized or deleted with the Select tool, wherever the file allows it. The editor says beside one it cannot move why not.

  • Deleting is not hiding

    Deleting an image takes it off the page, but its data stays in the exported file, where it can still be extracted. This is not a way to remove something sensitive. How files are handled.

Common questions

Before you start

Will the image look the same in the PDF?

It is embedded as the image you chose, at the size and position you set on the page. A PNG keeps its transparent areas.

Can I put an image behind the text?

No. An image you add sits on top of the page, so place it where it does not cover the words.

Can I add a signature as an image?

You can add a picture of your signature like any other image. Or draw one with the Sign tool: signing a PDF.

What about scanned PDFs?

You can add images to a scanned PDF. The text in the scan itself cannot be changed, because we don’t read text out of scans (OCR).
